Leapshot is a futuristic 3vs3 contact sports game that takes place in spectacular aerial locations. Star players must score as many touchdowns as possible while performing stunts in front of millions of fans.
Here is the TRAILER of LEAPSHOT ! Hope you will enjoy it ! I worked on the direction and editing of the trailer, mix between Engine Footage (with the Sequencer) and In-Game Footage during some playtest. Editing is done with Adobe Premiere Pro and VFX / Motion Design made by Maxime Congy with Adobe After Effect.
What I do on Leapshot?
I'm one of the two level designers of the team. My mission is to create the arena of the game. The arena, therefore, takes place in a suspended place in a city "Starling Place" set up as a Leapshot Arena. I also work in addition on the in-game cinematics and the editing of the future trailer.
To make our documentation we use Confluence, it's easier for us to share the different part of the progress of the project, the different mechanics or iteration of the Level Design and the Artistic Direction. In the Confluence we have a Roadmap for the next year of production.
We also use Jira for the planning of the project and the bug reporting.

Pre-production Work (October 2020 - December 2020)
After many Level tests with many iterations of the maps to try different symmetries and the verticality, we defined the Level Design rules and metrics. We've done quite a few playtest sessions. Our Level Design Workflow is mostly with Environment and concept Artists who do concept and blocking while as we (the level designers) take over to modify and adapt their blocking to the level design metrics.

You can see here some of "Starling Place" screenshots, our first Stadium made in pre-production. We will use this map to try out our mechanics and player interactions between them as well the game rules. It also allows us to predict the appearance of our future maps, what we have to do and not do during the production.

Production Work (January 2021 - June 2021)
After many playtest we change lot of things on the game because it's to hard for the beginner, espacially on the readability of the Level Design and the use of parkour mechanics. After many brainstorm with the Game Artist and with the various feedbacks, we have concluded that for the readability we had to put more in front of the sports environment as opposed to the first arena which put more in front of the urban side. For the parkour mechanics we decided to facilitate their use by the controller and with an onboarding of the mechanics thanks to a tutorial and signs more comprehensible.
Here is a little overview of Stirling Stadium our map for Leapshot. Stirling Stadium is prepared on the Stirling Square in the downtown of Jameson City.

CINEMATICS
I worked on Level Design, but i also worked on Cinematics mainly on the Match Introduction Cinematics, which present the two teams who are opposed and the players of each team. The introduction also shows the stadium so that the players become familiar with.
At the end of the game all the players can see the podium where the winners are. In this cinematics you can see the name and the main statistics of the three players.
Like in all production some features are cut for some reason, i worked on celebrations. The Celebration are triggered after a goal and show the player to an spectacular accrobatics move. We finally cut the twelve celebrations i made due to some technical problematics. But here are some of the celebrations I have created
